Frequently asked questions
Can't find your answer? Ask our assistant, or request a quote and VideoComm's team will help.
How tall a building can the system handle?
VideoComm systems run in some of the tallest buildings in the world and can operate up to 200 floors or more. They are also used in gold mine elevators that travel up to one mile underground.
Do I need to replace the traveling cable to add an elevator camera?
No. The wireless transmitter sends live HD video, audio and data from the car to a receiver in the shaft, so your existing traveling cable stays as it is.
Does the elevator motor or cabling interfere with the wireless signal?
No. The combination of 802.11a wireless technology and the antenna configuration gives consistent, real-time HD video and data transmission.
Will the video flicker or cut out while the elevator is moving?
No. The link is designed for reliable, continuous video and data at any speed and height.
How much does a wireless elevator camera system cost?
It depends on how many elevators and floors you have. In most buildings, wireless costs a fraction of new traveling cable once labor and downtime are counted. Request a free quote for exact pricing.
How long does installation take?
There is no new cable to run down the shaft, so installation is fast and the elevator is usually back in service the same day.
Can I use my existing cameras and recorder?
Yes. The system is compatible with network IP cameras and NVRs. You can also choose a complete kit that includes a 4MP dome camera.
Is the video transmission secure?
Yes. Video is sent with encryption, so footage stays private and protected from unauthorized access.
What else can the wireless link be used for?
Besides cameras, it can carry two-way emergency audio or VoIP emergency phones, access control, HD displays in the car, music or recorded messages, and IoT sensors.
Is it suitable for hospitals?
Yes. Hospitals cannot take bed elevators out of service for days to run new cable. With wireless, the elevator is usually back in service the same day, and security staff get live video to verify emergency calls and watch access to restricted floors.
Are the products NDAA compliant?
Yes. All products are NDAA Section 889 compliant, making them suitable for US government, military and contractor projects, as well as universities and correctional facilities.
What warranty comes with the system?
Wireless elevator systems carry a 3-year parts and labor warranty, a 100% wireless performance guarantee and a 60-day return policy.
Who makes the products?
VideoComm Technologies, founded in 1996 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Elevator Video Systems is its elevator security brand. WirelessElevatorCamera.com is an authorized referral partner.
